About

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of four and have been fighting the good fight ever since. I started studying the martial arts when I was ten years old as a way of managing my Diabetes and improving my health. The styles I’ve studied have included Tae Kwon Do, HapKiDo, Kendo, Okinawan Karate and Kempo Karate.

I started studying and practicing Zen Buddhism several years after beginning the martial arts and it has stuck with me and gotten me through some difficult times in life. I am an eternal student who enjoys good conversation, lively debate and learning new things. I have been writing for a number of years and enjoy sharing knowledge on the things I’ve had the opportunity to learn.
